Provided by AGPIndonesia's National Disaster Management Agency, BNPB, announced that rescue teams located the remains of two additional victims, following the earlier recovery of an Indonesian woman's body, raising the total fatalities to three, according to news agency Antara.
"With the discovery of the other two victims, all victims previously declared missing have been found," said Abdul Muhari, head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center.
The two newly recovered victims were identified as foreign male nationals, aged 27 and 30. Muhari further confirmed that the joint search and rescue operation has since been officially concluded.
The disaster was triggered Friday when Mount Dukono, located on Halmahera Island, violently erupted, propelling a towering ash and smoke column approximately 10 kilometers — roughly 6.2 miles — into the sky.
